The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is one of the worlds longest-running and most popular gold bullion coins. Introduced in 1979 by the Royal Canadian Mint, it offered a new option for gold buyers during a time when the South African Gold Krugerrand faced increasing restrictions. Today, the Gold Maple Leaf is known for its high purity and timeless design. Right now, 2025 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coins are available at Provident Metals.

Highlights:

  • Arrives sealed inside an assay card!
  • 47th issue of Canadian Gold Maple Leafs!
  • Features a Royal Canadian Mint assay certificate!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure gold in BU condition.
  • Bears a face value of $50 (CAD) backed by the federal government of Canada.
  • The obverse features King Charles III.
  • On the reverse is the iconic sugar maple leaf.

Each 2025 Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin comes individually packaged inside an assay card. The Royal Canadian Mints certificate ensures the coins authenticity, guaranteeing its weight, metal content, and purity. The certificate also includes the signature of Charles Daoust, the Mints Chief Assayer.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 2025 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin, youll find a portrait of King Charles III. This left-profile image, designed by Steven Rosati, first appeared in 2024 and is the first-ever depiction of King Charles III on Canadian coins. The portrait captures His Majestys likeness without a crown. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, 50 DOLLARS, and 2025.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 Maple Leaf 1 oz Gold Coin features the iconic sugar maple leaf design. Created by Walter Ott for the coins debut in 1979, this detailed image celebrates the importance of the sugar maple leaf as a national symbol of Canada. Its fine details and realism have made it one of the most recognizable designs in the bullion world. Inscriptions read CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, and 1 OZ OR PUR.

History

The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf debuted in 1979 at a time when Western nations were restricting trade with South Africa due to economic sanctions. This situation made the Gold Krugerrand less accessible to global investors and opened the door for new bullion coins like the Gold Maple Leaf, which quickly gained popularity.
