A leopards head rests above a stone slab, paired with an elephant tusk on one side and a spear on the other. A border of text and beading completes the image. The inscriptions include REPUBLIQUE DEMOCRATIQUE DU CONGO, 1 OZ AG 999.9, 20 FRANCS, and JUSTICE PAIX TRAVAIL.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 Colorized Prehistoric Life Megalodon 1 oz Silver Coin, a colorized scene shows the megalodon rushing toward a blue whale. This design gives a simple sense of the sharks massive scale. Scientists believe megalodon first appeared around 23 million years ago and survived for millions of years in warm seas filled with prey. History
Based on fossil remains, mainly teeth and vertebrae, scientists describe megalodon as a strong swimmer with a body built for quick bursts of speed. Its jaw mechanics are thought to have produced an exceptionally strong bite, among the most forceful in Earths history. The serrated triangular teeth were ideal for slicing through bone and muscle, allowing the shark to tackle very large prey.
