The obverse of the 2025 Colorized Native America the Beautiful Missouri Silver Coin features two Osage figures sitting by a riverbank in the Ozarks. Prior to European contact, the Osage were one of the dominant groups in the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys. Archaeological findings connect them to the larger Dhegihan Siouan-speaking cultures that flourished in these areas. The inscription includes WAZHAZHE, MISSOURI, 2025, and OSAGE.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025 Colorized NATB Missouri 1 oz Silver Coin displays the series well-known design. It showcases the head of an American bald eagle at the center of an eight-pointed star, with arrowheads positioned between the points of the star. History
The Osage people, known as the People of the Middle Waters, have a rich history in North America. The name Osage originates from a French adaptation of their tribal name, which translates to calm water. In their native Dhegihan Siouan language, they refer to themselves as Wazhazhe, meaning Mid-waters.
