Each 2025 Mexican Libertad 1 Kilo Silver Coin comes sealed in a clear acrylic capsule. This specific weight debuted in the Libertad Silver Series in 2008. While it was issued annually for several years, production paused in 2013 and 2014 before resuming regular releases in 2015.
Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coin, the central design displays the Mexican coat of arms, with a golden eagle atop a prickly pear cactus and a serpent clutched in its beak and claws. For 1 oz and larger versions, the design is surrounded by ten earlier forms of the national seal. The inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse side of the 2025 Libertad 1 Kilo Silver Coin features the Winged Victory. This image was introduced on silver Libertads in 1996 and shows the statue from a three-quarter view. Victory stands proudly atop the Independence Victory Column in the heart of Mexico City. The inscriptions read 1 KG, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
The obverse of the Mexican Libertad includes the official coat of arms of Mexico. The roots of this symbol go back to the 16th century Codex Mendoza, which documented Aztec culture and tribute records. The image originally depicted an eagle on a cactus with a snake in its beak, referencing the legendary origin of Tenochtitlan.
