Mexican Libertad bullion coins are produced by the Mexican Mint, the oldest operating mint in the Western Hemisphere. Starting in the 1980s, the Mexican Libertad Series brought both gold and silver coins to collectors, with designs based on the historic 1921 Gold Centenario coin. Today, Provident Metals is offering the 2025 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coins for sale.
Highlights:
Each 2025 Mexican Libertad 1 oz Silver Coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and is shipped in a protective plastic flip. For 2025, the Mexican Mint lowered production numbers across the Silver Libertad series and released no Gold Libertad coins at all. These changes resulted in the lowest mintage levels so far for BU Silver Libertads, giving the 2025 issue added interest for collectors. Please be aware that these are spotted specimens. Called milk spots, this natural spotting shows up as white or cloudy marks on silver coins due to residues from the minting or handling process.
Obverse
The obverse side of the 2025 Mexican Libertad Silver Coins features the Mexican coat of arms. The central image shows a golden eagle on a prickly pear cactus holding a serpent. On 1 oz and larger coins, this design is surrounded by 10 earlier versions of the countrys seal, reflecting Mexicos evolving history. Inscriptions include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.
Reverse
The reverse design of the 2025 Libertad 1 oz Silver Coins shows Winged Victory in a three-quarter profile. This design, introduced in 1996, places Victory on top of the Mexican Independence Victory Column in Mexico City, one of Mexicos most important monuments. Inscriptions read 1 ONZA, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the Mo mint mark.
History
The main design on the Mexican Silver Libertad is the Winged Victory, also known in Mexico as Libertad. This figure stands as a national symbol of freedom, tied to Mexicos fight for independence and the countrys progress toward sovereignty after breaking from Spain in the 19th century.
