In 2021, the United States Mint brought collector silver dollars back into production with a new release of the Morgan and Peace Dollar designs. This modern revival honored the 100-year milestone since both the final Morgan Dollar and the debut Peace Dollar were issued in 1921. Obverse
On the obverse of the 2025 Morgan Dollar Coin, Liberty is depicted in left-profile with flowing hair beneath a Phrygian cap. A laurel wreath and coronet complete her appearance, along with 13 stars that circle around the portrait. Inscriptions read E PLURIBUS UNUM, LIBERTY, and 2025.
Reverse
The reverse design of 2025 Morgan Dollar Silver Coins features the classic heraldic eagle created by Morgan. With its wings open and facing forward, the bald eagle holds an olive branch in one talon and a set of arrows in the other. These symbols represent the countrys desire for peace and its readiness to defend itself. The inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, and ONE DOLLAR.
History
The heraldic eagle design has seen many versions since its early use on American coins. These changes reflect shifts in artistic style and minting techniques. Earlier eagles were often lifelike with fine detail, while newer renditions tend to be more symbolic and clean-lined. Each new design adjusts features like the eagles wings, pose, and surrounding elements.
