Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Niue Czech Lion Silver Coin features King Charles III. His Majesty is depicted in a left-profile portrait without a crown, following the official coin effigy designed by Jody Clark. Clark is also known for creating the last portrait of Queen Elizabeth II that appeared on British coinage. Inscriptions read CHARLES III, NIUE, 2 DOLLARS, and 2025.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 Czech Lion 1 oz Silver Coin, the Czech Lion is shown in a detailed left-profile relief. This years design emphasizes the lions head, which is adorned with the Crown of St. Wenceslas. Also known as the Bohemian Crown, this historic artifact was commissioned by Charles IV in 1347 and remains one of the most significant royal symbols in Europe. Inscriptions include CESKA REPUBLIKA and 1 OZ AG 999.
History
For centuries, the Czech Lion has been a defining symbol of the regions heritage. Originally granted to the King of Bohemia by Emperor Frederick Barbarossa, this emblem is distinguished by its two-tailed design. The Bohemian Lion is traditionally shown in silver (white) on a red background with a golden crown, making it a unique heraldic figure in European history.
