Formed on November 10, 1775, through a resolution by the Second Continental Congress, the United States Marine Corps started with two battalions of Continental Marines working alongside the Continental Navy during the American Revolution. The US Mint continues its Armed Forces Privy Series with a Proof American Silver Eagle featuring the Marine Corps well-known Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia. Today, 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in certified condition are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
All 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins come in flawless condition with protective slabs. PF70 coins have full mint luster and no visible flaws. UCAM pieces display frosted design elements over bright, mirror-like fields. Advanced Release coins were graded before the US Mint made the coins available to the public.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle Silver Coin uses Adolph A. Weinmans classic 1916 Walking Liberty artwork. This side includes the Marine Corps privy mark, showing the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem that has symbolized the Marines since 1868. The eagle stands for the nation, the globe represents worldwide service, and the fouled anchor reflects the Corps naval roots and connection to the US Navy. The inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2025, and the AW signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025-P Proof Marine Corps Privy Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin features the bald eagle design by Emily Damstra, introduced in 2020. The eagle soars with an oak branch in its talons, a design that became part of the Silver Eagle series in mid-2021. The inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and the P mint mark.
History
During the Vietnam War, Marines carried out wide-ranging missions, from defending Khe Sanh during the 77-day siege in 1968 to engaging in urban fighting during the Tet Offensive. They also performed numerous pacification and search-and-destroy operations across northern South Vietnam, blending traditional amphibious tactics with new counterinsurgency methods suited to dense jungle terrain.
