History
In 1921, the Commission of Fine Arts set up a competition to find a new design for the next silver dollar, one that would represent peace following the First World War. The winning entry came from Anthony de Francisci, who created the timeless images of Liberty and the eagle that continue to define the Peace Dollar today.
