Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Proof British Tudor Beasts The Greyhound of Richmond Silver Coin features King Charles III in left-profile relief. Designed by Martin Jennings in 2022, this portrait presents the king without a crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, D.G. REX. F.D., 10 POUNDS, and 2025.
Reverse
On the reverse of the 2025 Proof Tudor Beasts 5 oz Silver Coin, the Greyhound of Richmond is shown in a seated pose while supporting a shield. The shield bears the Three Lions of England, a historic symbol of English royalty and heritage. The inscriptions read GREYHOUND OF RICHMOND and 2025.
History
The Greyhound of Richmond was commonly used in Tudor-era architectural details alongside other heraldic creatures, such as the red dragon of Wales and the white falcon of York. It is a well-known figure at Hampton Court Palace, where it remains part of the palaces decorative elements. More than just a royal emblem, the greyhound also symbolized the Tudor dynastys right to the English throne.
