Obverse

On the obverse of the 2025 Proof Colorized Republic of Ghana Judas Iscariot Silver Coin, youll find a portrait of King Charles III. This image was one of the first official depictions of the new monarch and shows him without a crown. The design is by Jody Clark, the artist who also created the final portrait of Queen Elizabeth II for British coinage. Reverse

The reverse of 2025 Proof Colorized Judas Iscariot 1 oz Silver Coins shows Judas Iscariot in a sorrowful moment under a tree. He is pictured in profile, tightening a rope around his neck. The scene is a reference to his despair after betraying Jesus. Color is added only to specific parts of the design, including Judas himself, the rope, his name, and the small cross near the bottom. Inscriptions here include JUDAS ISCARIOT.

History

Judas Iscariots actions have long been a subject of discussion, with various views on why he betrayed Jesus. Some point to the payment he received, while others believe it may have stemmed from disillusionment or destiny. The Gospel of Matthew tells us that Judas later regretted his betrayal. He gave the silver back and hanged himself. His name has come to stand for betrayal in much of the Western world.
