For 2025, the Mexican Mint reduced mintages for Silver Libertads and did not release any Gold Libertads. Obverse

On the 2025 Proof Mexican Libertad Silver Coin, the obverse shows the modern national emblem a golden eagle perched on a cactus while grasping a serpent. Surrounding the main design on 5 oz, 2 oz, and 1 oz proofs are ten smaller versions of the emblem from past eras, reflecting Mexicos history and national identity. The inscriptions here include ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2025 Proof Libertad 2 oz Silver Coin depicts the Winged Victory statue from the Mexican Independence Victory Column, with Popocatpetl and Iztacchuatl volcanoes in the distance. Inscriptions here include 2 ONZAS, PLATA PURA, 2025 LEY .999, and the mint mark.

History

The obverse of every Mexican Libertad Coin includes the countrys coat of arms, which draws inspiration from the 1534 Codex Mendoza. This historical image blended Indigenous and European influences under colonial rule, shaping the design that continues to symbolize Mexico today.
