Obverse
The obverse of the 2025 Proof Native America the Beautiful Michigan Silver Coin features a scene showing Ojibwe people near a wigwam, along the Lake Michigan shoreline. These dome-shaped shelters were built from flexible saplings, usually maple or ash, and covered with birchbark. The wigwams provided warmth and shelter and were easy to move as the seasons changed. The inscriptions include MICHI-GAMI, MICHIGAN, OJIBWE, and 2025.
Reverse
On the reverse side of 2025 Proof NATB Michigan 1 oz Silver Coins, each coin has the shared design seen across all releases in the series. It shows a bald eagles head in the middle of an eight-pointed star. Between each star point, an arrowhead is positioned, creating a frame around the central image. The inscriptions read NATIVE AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, 1 OUNCE, ONE DOLLAR, and 999 AG.
History
Lake Michigan played an important role in Ojibwe life, offering an abundant source of fish like sturgeon, whitefish, and lake trout. These species were key to their food supply and local trade. The lake also allowed the Ojibwe to travel and trade between communities using their handmade birchbark canoes.
