History
Nimoy was inspired by a Jewish blessing he had seen in childhood, the priestly benediction (Birkat Kohanim), where a similar hand gesture was used, often with both hands to form the Hebrew letter Shin. Over time, the Vulcan salute became more than just a Star Trek icon, turning into a symbol of peace, logic, and goodwill around the world.
