The United States Marine Corps was founded on November 10, 1775, when the Second Continental Congress approved the creation of two battalions of Continental Marines to work alongside the Continental Navy during the American Revolution. The US Mint continues its Armed Forces Privy Series with a Proof American Silver Eagle that includes the well-known Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem of the Marine Corps. Right now, 2025-S Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins are available at Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2025-S Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin is shipped in a plastic capsule with a protective presentation box. Every coin also comes with a themed outer shipper and a Certificate of Authenticity issued by the US Mint. These coins commemorate the Marine Corps 250th birthday in 2025, a milestone that reminds us the Corps was formed before the United States itself. Every year on November 10th, Marines continue to celebrate their history and traditions at bases around the globe.
Obverse
The obverse of 2025-S Proof Marine Corps Privy American Eagle Silver Coins includes Adolph A. Weinmans famous Walking Liberty design from 1916. It also features the Marine Corps privy, which shows the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor symbol. First adopted in 1868, the eagle represents the nation, the globe stands for worldwide service, and the fouled anchor reflects the Corps naval background and connection to the U.S. Navy. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2025, and the AW signature mark.
Reverse
On the reverse of 2025-S Proof Marine Corps Privy Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins is Emily Damstras 2020 image of the bald eagle in flight, clutching an oak branch. This design has appeared on the Silver Eagle series since mid-2021. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ FINE SILVER, and the P mint mark.
History
During the Revolutionary War, Continental Marines took part in their first amphibious landing in March 1776 at Nassau in the Bahamas, where they successfully captured British gunpowder and supplies needed by Washingtons troops. Marines also served aboard Continental Navy ships, where they provided onboard defense, manned high positions during sea battles, and joined boarding operations against British vessels.
