In 2006, the US Mint released a new variation of the American Silver Eagle. Called the Burnished Silver Eagle, these coins begin as silver blanks that are placed into a spinning drum with polishing beads and a burnishing solution. This process creates a smooth, satin-like finish that stands out from other Silver Eagles. Provident Metals now has the 2025-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin available.
Highlights:
Each 2025-W Burnished American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin is shipped inside a plastic capsule. The coin comes in a US Mint presentation box with themed outer and shipping sleeves. Also included is an official Certificate of Authenticity to confirm its issue.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025-W Burnished American Eagle Silver Coin features the historic Walking Liberty artwork. This design was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and shows Liberty walking left toward the sunrise. She is wrapped in the American flag with her right arm extended and oak and laurel branches held in her left. Inscriptions include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, 2025, and the AW signature mark.
Reverse
On the reverse, the 2025-W Burnished Eagle 1 oz Silver Coin features a design by Emily Damstra. It shows an American bald eagle flying downward. The eagles wings are spread wide, and its talons reach forward as it grasps a sturdy oak branch. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and the W mint mark.
History
To make Burnished Silver Eagles, the Mint uses a hands-on process. Each blank is manually placed into the coin press and struck once under high pressure. The coins are handled using cotton gloves the entire time to avoid damage. The result is a collectible piece that has a refined finish somewhere between a standard uncirculated coin and a proof.
