The Proof American Gold Eagle series has been a fixture of the US Mints lineup since 1986, offering collectors a combination of historic and modern artistry. With Augustus Saint-Gaudens well-known Lady Liberty design on the obverse and a contemporary bald eagle portrait on the reverse, these coins continue to be a top choice for collectors. Provident Metals now offers the 2025-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin.
Highlights:
Each 2025-W Proof American Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin is struck with frosted design elements against a mirror-like background. The coin is securely packaged in a plastic capsule and comes with a display box, themed shipper, and a Certificate of Authenticity from the US Mint.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2025-W Proof American Eagle Gold Coin features Augustus Saint-Gaudens 1907 design of Lady Liberty striding forward. She carries a torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other, with sun rays and the US Capitol in the background. The inscriptions read LIBERTY, 2025, the W mint mark, and Saint-Gaudens’ ASG signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of the 2025-W Proof Eagle 1/10 oz Gold Coin presents Jennie Norris close-up portrait of a bald eagle. The design captures the eagles gaze in stunning detail, emphasizing its sharp features. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 5 DOLLARS, and 1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.
History
The 1/10 oz Proof American Gold Eagle was introduced in 1988, two years after the Proof Gold Eagle series was first released. The US Mint initially launched the Proof Gold Eagle program in 1986 with only a 1 oz coin, later expanding to include the 1/2 oz size in 1987, and both the 1/10 oz and 1/4 oz sizes in 1988. Among these fractional options, the 1/10 oz coin has remained a popular choice for collectors.
