Created by Jennie Norris, this sharp, close-up design focuses on the eagles head, highlighting its powerful gaze and intricate feathers. History

The design of the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle mirrors the larger coins in the program, with details adjusted to suit the 27mm planchet. For many years, Miley Busieks family-of-eagles reverse provided continuity across the series. That reverse was replaced in 2021 with a new image as part of the 35th anniversary update.
