Since its introduction, the series has offered four different weights, including the 1/2 oz Gold Eaglethe largest of the fractional sizes. Each 2026 American Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Tube offered by Provident Metals comes with 40 Brilliant Uncirculated coins, safely stored inside a durable acrylic tube. Altogether, the tube holds 20 Troy ounces of 22-karat gold.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin features the famous Lady Liberty design created by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. This timeless image shows Liberty moving forward with purpose, holding a lit torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. She is shown in front of the U.S. Capitol Building with rays of the sun and a border of stars. The inscriptions here include LIBERTY, 2026, and the ASG signature mark.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 Eagle 1/2 oz Gold Coin is the bald eagle artwork introduced in 2021 for the series 35th anniversary. Designed by Jennie Norris, this portrait highlights the birds left-profile with detailed feathers, a sharp beak, and an alert eye. Inscriptions here include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 25 DOLLARS, and 1/2 OZ FINE GOLD.

History

Though the 1/2 oz Gold Eagle hasnt exceeded the production numbers of its first year, there have been years when it saw a boost in interest. One of the most notable moments came in 1999, when worries over the Y2K computer bug led many to seek out precious metals, raising the coins mintage to its second-highest level.
