The American Gold Eagle is recognized as the official gold bullion coin of the United States. In 2026, this popular series celebrates 40 years since its introduction in 1986. The collection includes four coin sizes, with the 1/4 oz Gold Eagle offering a compact option. Though not as widely discussed as the 1 oz version, this coin has remained part of the lineup from the beginning. Provident Metals now has 2026 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Tubes available.
Highlights:
Inside each 2026 American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Tube, youll receive 40 individual 2026 1/4 oz Gold Eagle Coins. These coins are offered in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and come securely packaged in plastic tubes. This means a full 10 Troy oz of gold content is included with each tube.
Obverse
The obverse design on the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin continues to feature Lady Liberty as imagined by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. She is shown walking forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, representing themes of freedom and peace. This design first appeared in 1907. The inscriptions here read LIBERTY, 2026, and the ASG signature mark.
Reverse
The reverse of 2026 Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins showcases the American bald eagle with a new look introduced in 2021. Created by Jennie Norris, this portrait presents the eagles head in left-profile and offers a fresh take on this national bird. It has remained the reverse image since its introduction during the series’s 35th anniversary. Inscriptions here read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 10 DOLLARS, and 1/4 oz fine gold.
History
The 1/4 oz Gold Eagle made its debut in 1986, alongside the rest of the series. That year marked the highest mintage of this size, with over 726,000 coins produced. The next closest mintage peak came in 1999, when concerns surrounding the Y2K issue drove demand to over 564,000 coins.
