In 2026, the American Gold Eagle bullion program celebrates 40 years since its start. The US Mint introduced the American Eagle gold coins in 1986 and has offered them in four weights ever since. Each coin is produced in 22-karat gold, giving the series a distinctive place among modern bullion issues. The 22-karat alloy used by the Mint is made up of 91.67% gold, plus copper and silver (5.33% and 3%) to improve the coins durability without changing its gold content. Provident Metals now offers the 2026 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin in certified condition.

Highlights:

  • Coins arrive inside individual slabs!
  • 40th-anniversary release of Gold Eagle coins!
  • Limited availability of certified perfect coins!
  • Contains 1 troy oz of actual gold content.
  • Issued a face value of $50 (USD) by the United States.
  • Bears a Grade of Mint State 70 from the Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • First Strike.
  • Obverse depicts Lady Liberty.
  • Reverse includes an American bald eagle.

These 2026 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coins come in MS70 condition from PCGS. MS70 coins are considered perfect, showing full mint brilliance and no visible flaws. The First Strike designation applies to coins that PCGS receives for grading within 30 days of the mints release date.

Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 American Eagle Gold Coin displays Augustus Saint-Gaudens famous depiction of Lady Liberty. She is shown moving forward, facing the viewer, with a torch raised in one hand and an olive branch held in the other. A ring of stars surrounds the scene, while sunrays fill the field behind her. Inscriptions include LIBERTY and 2026.

Reverse

The reverse design on the 2026 Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin uses the current bald eagle image released in 2020. Artist Jennie Norris created this portrait of the eagles head in left-profile relief, offering a sharp and modern look that still feels classic. Inscriptions read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, IN GOD WE TRUST, 50 DOLLARS, and 1 OZ. FINE GOLD.

History

Over the years, the 1 oz American Gold Eagle has become the standard gold bullion coin for many buyers in the US and abroad. Investors appreciate its government guarantee and easy recognition, and collectors enjoy having a long-running series that remains consistent from year to year. It is also widely accepted for IRA use.
