On the obverse of the 2026 Australian Lunar Horse Gold Coin, the new image of King Charles III appears for the first time on this series. Created by Dan Thorne, the portrait shows the king in left-profile without any crown, and is the official design used by the Perth Mint. Reverse

The reverse of 2026 Lunar Horse 1 oz Gold Coins shows a bold horse standing on its hind legs with both front hooves raised. Behind the horse, a landscape of mountains and open plains adds depth to the scene. Also included is a security element in the form of a small letter that is only visible under magnification. Inscriptions here include HORSE, 2026, the P mint mark, and the Chinese emblem for the Horse.
