Obverse

The obverse of the 2026 Austrian Philharmonic Silver Coin shows the Great Pipe Organ inside the Musikverein. Built by Friedrich Ladegast in 1872, the organ has been updated over time to maintain its performance quality. Inscriptions include REPUBLIK OSTERREICH, 1 UNZE FEINSILBER, 2026, and 1,50 EURO.

Reverse

On the reverse of the 2026 Philharmonic 1 oz Silver Coin, musical instruments tied to the Vienna Philharmonic appear. The main image features a cello surrounded by four violins, with a bassoon, harp, and Vienna horn positioned in the background. Inscriptions read WIENER PHILHARMONIKER and SILBER.

History

The Silver Philharmonics design celebrates the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the venue it calls home. The Musikverein, situated in Viennas Innere Stadt district, is one of Europes top concert halls. Completed in 1870 under architect Theophil Hansens direction, it is known for its Golden Hall (Groer Musikvereinssaal), admired worldwide for its excellent acoustics and impressive dcor featuring golden statues and painted ceilings.
