The Tudor Beasts Series from The Royal Mint builds on the success of the Queens Beasts Series as its follow-up collection. Launched in 2022, the Tudor Beasts Series includes 10 designs inspired by the heraldic statues on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court. These symbols were used by the Tudor monarchs, especially King Henry VIII, to strengthen their dynastys claim after the Wars of the Roses. Today, 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 2 oz Silver Tubes are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 2 oz Silver Tube contains 10 coins made with .9999 pure silver in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These coins are only offered in bulk, with 20 troy ounces of silver in each tube.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 British Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion Silver Coins shows the official portrait of King Charles III. Designed by Martin Jennings in late 2022, this first definitive image depicts the King in left-profile relief without a crown. The inscriptions include CHARLES III, DG REX FD, and 5 POUNDS.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2026 Tudor Beasts Queen’s Lion 2 oz Silver Coins is the crowned Queens Lion holding the badge of Jane Seymour. This design reflects the heraldic imagery Henry VIII used to highlight Jane Seymours importance as queen consort. The inscriptions read THE QUEEN’S LION, 2 OZ, FINE SILVER, 999.9, and 2026.
History
The Queens Lion is closely connected to Jane Seymour, the third wife of King Henry VIII. Their marriage on May 30, 1536, came just eleven days after Anne Boleyns execution. This quick union, held at Whitehall Palace, was smaller and less formal than Henrys earlier weddings due to the circumstances surrounding Anne Boleyns downfall.
