The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf was first issued in 1979 and has earned its place as one of the most recognized bullion coins available today. It is second only to the South African Krugerrand in terms of continuous annual release. Originally struck in a single weight, the Gold Maple Leaf collection has since grown to six different weight options. Of these, the 1 oz coin remains the most widely purchased, but fractional sizes also have strong demand. Provident Metals now offers the 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Sheets.
Highlights:
Each 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Sheet includes 10 coins that come sealed together. The sheet contains a combined total of five troy ounces of pure gold. Please note these coins are sold only in multiples of 10.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin introduces a new effigy of King Charles III. This portrait, created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, shows the King facing left without a crown. It is only the third time that a Canadian artist has designed a monarchs portrait for Canadas circulating and bullion coins. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, 20 DOLLARS, and 2026.
Reverse
The reverse design of 2026 Maple Leaf 1/2 oz Gold Coins continues with Walter Otts detailed maple leaf illustration. First used on the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979, this artwork remains the hallmark of the collection and is featured across gold, silver, platinum, and palladium issues of the Maple Leaf series. Inscriptions read CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, 1/2 OZ, and OR PUR.
History
Sugar maple trees are recognized for producing samaras, also called winged seeds, that can be carried several hundred feet on the wind. Despite this ability, the species spreads at a slower pace compared to other maples, as its growth depends heavily on certain climate and soil conditions.
