First released in 1979, the Canadian Gold Maple Leaf is one of the most recognized gold bullion coins in the world, second only to the Krugerrand in age. What began as a single coin option has grown into a series available in six sizes each year. The 1 oz coin remains the most collected, while the smaller weights offer affordable entry points. Provident Metals now has the 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coin available for purchase.
Highlights:
Each 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. Coins are packaged individually in protective flips or in sheets of 40 coins for larger orders. The Royal Canadian Mint introduced this fractional option to the series in 1993.
Obverse
The obverse of the 2026 Canadian Maple Leaf Gold Coin displays the first Canadian portrait of King Charles III. Created by Canadian artist Steven Rosati, the uncrowned, left-facing image marks just the third time in history that a Canadian artist has produced a royal portrait for the nations coins. Inscriptions include CHARLES III, 1 DOLLAR, and 2026.
Reverse
On the reverse side of the 2026 Maple Leaf 1/20 oz Gold Coin is Walter Otts enduring sugar maple leaf design. Debuting in 1979, this artwork has become the signature design of the Maple Leaf bullion range, which now spans gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. Inscriptions read CANADA, 9999, FINE GOLD, 1/20 OZ, and OR PUR.
History
In autumn, sugar maple trees shed their leaves as they prepare for the colder months. These leaves change color before falling, eventually fading to brown as they decompose on the ground. This seasonal process repeats each year, with the vibrancy of fall colors depending on local weather and climate shifts.
