Obverse

On the obverse of the 2026 Colorized Native America the Beautiful Kansas Silver Coins, Pawnee tribal members are shown performing a Grass Dance at a powwow. This dance is among the oldest traditions in powwow culture and is connected to the warrior societies of Plains tribes like the Pawnee, Lakota, and Omaha. Historically, the Grass Dance was used to prepare ceremonial spaces. The flowing movements of the dancers are meant to resemble tall grass moving in the wind. The inscriptions include POWWOW, KANSAS, 2026, and PAWNEE.

Reverse

The reverse of the 2026 Colorized NATB Kansas Silver Coins displays the standard series design. It features a bald eagles head set within an eight-pointed star, with arrowheads between each point of the star. The usual inscriptions and identifying marks are also present on this side. The inscriptions read NATIVE AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL, MESA GRANDE SOVEREIGN NATION, 1 OUNCE, ONE DOLLAR, and 999 AG.

History

Powwows remain an important part of Native American culture, serving as events where traditions are shared and continued. Through song, dance, and traditional dress, these gatherings help pass knowledge from one generation to the next. They also create a sense of unity and support within the community.
