The other marking found on this side of the silver Sweethearts is the script Sweethearts Candies, the logo of the candy brand.

History

Sweethearts have been in production on an annual basis since 1901. The company that originally produced the candies was Necco, or New England Confectionery Company. Over the course of more than a century, Necco, Stark Candy Company, and Spangler Candy Company all produced Sweetheart candies. Necco alone manufactured almost 8 billion of the candy sweets annually. 2019 is the only time that Sweethearts, specifically, were not produced. The sale of the company to Spangler from Necco resulted in a one-year shutdown of production.
