History

The Ka Bah itself is built from bricks of stone, marble, and limestone, but its outer faade is always covered by a cloth. This cloth is changed out each 9^th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12^th and final month of the Islamic calendar. Known as the Day of Arafah, the changing of the cloth is the only day in the year in which pilgrims cannot visit the site and walk around the Ka Bah.
