History

The death mask of King Tut was discovered by British archeologist Howard Carter and his excavation team. In November of 1922, Carter uncovered the tomb itself, which was located in the Valley of the Kings. However, it would take several years of excavation work before Carter and his team would open the sarcophagus that contained the mask along with Tutankhamuns mummy. Today, the mask can be seen at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.
