The Norse God Series is made up of five designs available in 1 oz and 5 oz weight options. These designs feature gods and goddesses of Norse mythology, including Hel, Freya, Loki, Odin, and Thor. The antique finishes exhibited on these rounds give the appearance of age without the wear and tear that comes with circulated coins.

As one of Lokis daughters, Hel shares her fathers mischievous habits. The goddess often left the gates of hell open for the dead to roam around Earth and torment the living.

Obverse

On the obverse of the 5 oz Silver Antique Norse God Series Hel Rounds, you will find the image of Hel sitting on her throne holding a staff. She wears flowy clothing and her hair in two braids. The dead surround Hels throne waiting for the goddess to open the gates of the underworld. Engravings include Hel and Goddess of Death on either side of the image.

Reverse

Each found in the Norse God Series features the Valkyrie design on the reverse. The image depicts the member of the Valkyrie riding horseback through the skies. The Valkyrie were Odins warrior maidens who were selected to ride over battlefields to choose who lived and who died. You will also find Valkyrie and Chooser of the Slain engraved on the reverse as well as the rounds weight, purity, and metal content.

History

Anonymous Mint develops the Norse God Series with the partnership of Osborne Precious Metals that strikes each round. Osborne is the oldest private mint in the country and has been in operation since 1836. Howard David Johnsons artwork inspires the designs Norse God Series. Sculptor Luigi Badia created the 3D blanks for the series based on Johnsons Norse mythology paintings.
