When you purchase a $5 US Mint Commemorative Gold Coin in this product listing, the item you receive has a near-perfect certification. Coins with a PR69 certification showcase full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws at this level include minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside of the primary focal points on the coin.

Designs

The obverse and reverse fields of $5 US Mint Commemorative Gold Coins feature a number of different possible designs. The US Mint typically issues each design as a one-time release. It may or may not be part of a broader series of themed coins, or could be a one-coin issue for an event such as a US city hosting the Winter or Summer Olympic Games.

History

Modern US commemorative coining returned in 1982 after a 28-year halt in the production of such coins. Gold commemoratives returned in 1986 with products struck into the 21st century. Each one of these particular coins is a proof gold specimen with frosted designs and mirrored fields. The coins are roughly the same size as the historic circulation $5 Liberty Eagle or $5 Indian Eagle, better known as the Gold Half Eagle coins.

Ordering

Please keep in mind this is a random-year listing. We cannot guarantee the date marks you will receive through this listing. If you purchase more than one coin, we cannot hand-pick to ensure you receive variety. All coins are chosen at random once your payment has been processed, so it is possible you could receive several matching coin dates, designs, and even grading house labels when you buy more than one.
