One of the most valuable forms of precious metals is the platinum bar. Platinum has experienced ebbs and flows in demand in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, with demand in the 2010s moving upward again. Among the four major precious metals, platinum is perhaps used more widely outside of metallic investment production than any other metal. Provident Metals now has 50 Gram Platinum Bars from Valcambi Suisse available to you for online purchasing.
Highlights:
When you purchase one of these 50 Gram Platinum Bars, you receive a product that is individually housed inside of a sealed blistercard that comes with an assay card inside of the pack. The brown assay card has the name of the mint on the obverse, with the weight, purity, metal content, and serial number on the reverse. The certified assayers signature is also on the reverse of the card. All bars are in brand-new condition.
Obverse
For the obverse field of 50 Gram Platinum Bars, Valcambi Suisse uses its mint logo at the top of the bar in the center of the design field. Below this are inscriptions down the right side that read 50 g, platinum, 999,5. Also included is the assayers mark with an individual serial number that is available with a 2-letter, 6-number coding system.
Reverse
In the reverse design element, the 50 Gram Platinum Bar features the Valcambi name. Inscribed along the left side of the bar in a vertical setup are the words Valcambi Suisse, with the mint logo in the distant background. You can see that the logo radiates off into the distant background with replications of its appearance reaching all the way out to the edges.
History
Platinum was first used by humans in pre-Columbian South America where indigenous tribes worked with the native metal after discovering it where it occurred naturally in alluvial sands along the banks of various rivers. European writings first referenced the metal as early as the 16th century, but it was a report in 1748 from Antonio de Ulloa that got scientists interested in investigating this new metal. It was eventually named platinum based on the Spanish term platino, which translates as little silver.
