Las Vegas rose to fame as the Neon Capital of the World during the 1940s and 1950s when bright, colorful signs began drawing travelers into the city from the desert roads. The very first neon sign appeared downtown in 1929, but it was after World War II that the city truly began to glow. In honor of those unforgettable lights, Scottsdale Mint has created the Lucky Sevens Silver Bar. Today, 7.77 oz Silver Colorized Lucky Sevens Bars from Scottsdale Mint are available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
Each 7.77 oz Silver Colorized Lucky Sevens Bar comes in protective plastic and features a colorized design that captures the glow of Las Vegas most famous lights.
Design
The obverse of the 7.77 oz Silver Colorized Lucky Sevens Bar includes the Lucky Sevens design, inspired by the signs that line the Vegas Strip. At the center are three sevens with the bars serial number shown below. The number seven has long been seen as a lucky number in the world of gamingappearing most often when two dice are rolled and featured in triple form on slot machines as the top-winning combination. The reverse side of the bar remains blank, highlighting the design work shown on the obverse. Inscriptions on the obverse injclude LUCKY, 777, 999 FINE SILVER, 7.77 TROY OUNCES, and SCOTTSDALE MINT.
History
Casinos like the Flamingo, opened by Bugsy Siegel in 1946, helped introduce a new era of large-scale neon displays that turned Fremont Street and the Strip into vibrant showcases of light. These glowing signs became a symbol of the citys entertainment culture, remaining a recognizable part of Las Vegas even as technology has shifted to LEDs.
