History

The fossil record suggests that the Dilophosaurus lived in North America during the Early Jurassic period around 193 million years ago. The first skeletons, three in total, were discovered in northern Arizona in 1940. Two years later in 1942, the best-preserved fossils were discovered. In reality, the fossil record suggests that the Dilophosaurus had crests fused to its skulls that were not retractable and it is not believed that the species had the ability to spit venom at its prey.
