- Good Quality!Tim on 7/31/17
I am pleased with my Ben Franklin halves.
All coins were good quality and better than I expected.
Looking forward to my next order.
- very pleasedRand on 7/5/17
Been buying these for a while now and have found them to be way better than average. Like them because most have little wear and therefore have good silver content. Unlike bullion coins there are only so many of these around and I feel they will only incerase in value over time
- Happy First OrderAndrew on 1/15/17
Made a gamble with a first order and I can VERY pleased. Coins arrived and are very nice! I will certainly order more! Great job and super customer service when I called with questions.
- as i remember themMike on 11/1/16
Being born in 53, there was a good selection of half dollars, little worn up to 63. If only I knew, I would have kept a few as I went through the 70's, as I was living in my car.
But in the way back machine who knew people older than I had the foresight to save them. I went for the franklins because they are less worn and they are, paid a premium, but hopefully they will be worth 15 to 20 times their face in the future
- Very pleased.Martin on 10/29/16
Coins were dated in order, and that tells me someone took the time to pick them out. Coins are just as described-in circulation condition. Cant imagine anyone complaining about that. But I'm satisfied, thanks PM.
- Thanks!Janet on 5/1/16
Thanks Provident for a nice Ben Franklin coin. One was in better than good shape, the other worn. However, I like them both and would buy more. Thanks Provident!

- I remember these from when I was a kid-Tom on 3/17/16
And I am more than happy with my small order. I am not a coin collector, I just want to diversify my hoard a bit, but these coins obviously spend more time in somebody's piggy bank than they did in circulation. One has got to be AU, the rest have little or no wear. Am waiting for my first order of walking liberty halves, which will doubtless have seen more use.
- Nice BensAnthony on 9/17/15
Bought a handful with my last Bullion order. A Proof Coin with a nice bell line was a surprise. The rest were a mixture of dates, and were in better condition than expected. Can't wait to order more!
- Not exactly what I was hoping for.Greg on 9/15/15
I bought 100 for a total of 200 halfs. One true cull that was unrecognizable. Found one kennndy in the lot. About 10 AU coins. Some coins would grade fine. Most will grade Good lots of handling. Will go
With bullion next time. Did get a nice Assortment of dates got Everything but a 1955.
- awesome!steven on 3/18/15

- Nice CoinsDarrell on 11/17/14
I ordered $10.00 worth of these Franklin Halves. There was a decent mix of dates, a few had mint marks.
1 - 48, 2 - 49, 1 - 50, 1 - 51, 1 - 52, 2 - 54, 2 - 57, 1 - 58, 1 - 59, 3 - 61, 2 - 62 and 3 - 63.
The coins were pretty close to the sample shown, with a couple a little better.
I bought these for the Silver. I would order again.
- Great coinsRichard on 11/7/14
Just received my 2 Franklin Halves. A 1953 and 1961 that have a few nicks here and there, but that can be expected due to their age. Think I'll order a couple of Walkers, my favorite coin.
- Got to love the Bennies!Donald on 9/15/14
I received a 60 and a 63. Good condition, I'm very pleased! Great job to PM!
- very happyJames on 3/7/14
Great mix of dates...finally got a 48 in great shape. And the price was right on.
- Quite SatisfiedStephen on 3/5/14
I just received $100.00 worth of Franklins and they are very nice. A couple of '49's and a '48. I am quite satisfied.
- Very nice coinsLuke on 3/2/14
Ordered $1 face value and I'm very satisfied. U.S. junk silver is nice for me in two ways. One it's a good way to invest in silver and two it's fun to get new coins and collect them. Very happy to add these to my collection.
- Provident comes through as usualJames on 2/25/14
Good coins, good price, and ninja fast shipping. In fact, I received my shipping notice and not 2 hours later usps was at my door. This does not surprise me in the least as Provident has shown this same professional service at low premiums on every order I have made with them. Can't wait to get my order of standing liberties, Morgan's, and peace dollars!!
- I got me someHector on 2/20/14
I love franklins they look good in any collection, for some reason I love these far more than the Kennedy, this order I received 2 franklins and both were from 1951, some wear and tear but look good because franklins are always beautiful, well worth purchasing, they looked so good the ones I recieved I ordered 4 more and will keep ordering until they run out again
- Not Bad At All!Chris on 9/17/13
Im a small stacker which is one reason I purchased this. The ability to buy small quantity's. And right now for September I really like the shipping charge of $4.95!
Overall Im pleased with the coins. I did not get any really bright and shinny coins. But I also did not get any really worn or damaged coins either. Dates, writing ect are clearly legible. I like these and I hope to make another purchase this month before the shipping special runs out. Better yet, Provident....keep the shipping special!!
- Good!Drew on 5/30/13
If you are not a fan of Benjamin Franklin, don't buy these as they have a big picture of him on the front. But if you want some 90% silver coins, these are a good value. Shipping was reasonably fast and the condition of my lot were fair.
- Love the FranklinsBrian on 5/9/13
I ordered 200 of these little beauties a few months back, mainly because I think Benjamin Franklin was one of our greatest American founders. Dates and quality range significantly but most are in surprisingly good condition. The shipping time was excessive (nearly 4 weeks) and the package was left exposed outside in the rain. I'd never imagined the delivery company would actually leave valuable Silver outside for anyone to steal, but whatever. Recently I decided to wash some of the badly tarnished coins in boiling water, baking powder and aluminum foil. It takes only 15 minutes and now they all look nearly Brilliant - as if they were just minted yesterday! Seems foolish to pay higher prices for "less circulated" coinage, just wash them if you want that shine. Another observation, the silver value is only about $8 per coin at today's prices. Why Provident chooses to charge $3 over spot to loyal customers is beyond me. Although I'm overall I'm pleased with my purchase I'll wait for less greedy pricing before considering another purchase.
- Product and shipping as advertisedSteve on 3/31/13
I ordered a 200 coin bag of these Franklin halves. I used the paper check method of payment. From ordering to delivery of the coins took 18 days which was what I expected from reading the info on the website. The coins ranged from nearly BU to one coin that had been beaten with a hammer and chisel. The coins weighed in at a little over the promised 71.5 troy ounces of silver over my scale. Provident did a great job in meeting my expectations throughout this transaction. I will be ordering from them again.
- Condition varies greatlyAaron on 3/21/13
I picked up a couple of these and one was in average circulated condition but the other was a cull quality that looks like it was run over by a lawnmower. I'm over all happy with service and quality of other items but expected a little more of these in terms of condition.
- Good old Ben!Mage on 3/8/13
Just got a bag of $127 face and they are awesome. Gotta love the Franklins. There was one 64 Kennedy in there but provident made it right. Thanks provident for another great score! There was even a half dozen uncirculated.
- Great coins, serviceRandy on 2/15/13
I ordered $10 face value. All were in excellent shape, dates in good shape, a couple with a little wear, not bad, to be expected for over a half century old coins. At least two were beautiful, unbelievable really. They all have the solid feel and clink that I remember as a kid. Not like todays real junk. I've just begun ordering from Provident and will be ordering more in the future.
- Excellent ValueWilliam on 2/5/13
Bought a 200 coin bag, couldn't be more pleased. All of the coins were of very good or better, some were AU+. Delivery was prompt, tracked and well packed. And the price was the best I could find for the coins I wanted. I'll be back for more.

Very pleased with the "our choice" silver half dollars I got from PM. I ended up with two of these Franklin half dollars, and although they are nothing spectacularly gorgeous, they are nice, solid silver coins to have in my bullion collection.
Shipping was very fast, everything arrived beautifully packaged and secure. Definitely will order more from here in the future.

- Somebody made a mistakeMarion on 1/10/12
Man I can't believe the pull of halves I got. These coins are in such good shape. I think somebody made a mistake and sent me AU. You can't go wrong when you order these halves. What a find.
- Good valueLawrence on 1/9/12
I bought $10 face. All were worn with one or two having moderate to heavy wear, and one with light wear, and one had a small dent on the side. In all it was worth the price paid. Reasonably quick shipping (about 1 week). Will buy from them again.
- great experience and great pricesChristopher on 10/21/11
quick shipment of Franklin halves all in good condition. this was my first purchase but i will be back for more. thanks
- New at buying Silver.Brandon on 9/29/11
I placed an order for a Half Roll of Franklin's. I placed the order on the 23rd, I work at a bank, so I can see when everything comes out of my account. The payment came out the next day, and in a couple of days, they were at my doorstep. They were in a very protective envelope, and there was even a '48 in the bunch. I'll definitely be back again, for more Franklin's & next going for the Walking Liberty's. While Silver is down & you're thinking about getting coins, DO IT! Provident all the way!!
- First Purchase of Franklin Halves.RR in Fla on 9/24/11
Coins in XF to VF condition. Would purchase again.
- Great service and nice coinsFred762 on 7/30/11
As in previous orders from Provident, the coins arrived in nice condition and are a decent value. They arrived via USPS in a timely manner. About 10% of them are a beautiful, mirror-like finish and appear to have been taken from mint sets!! WOW!!
Only one small complaint: this is the first time that a bag of 200 coins was taped up with lots of fiberglass strapping tape [to stop rattles I guess], making it necessary for me to actually cut the bag to get at the coins for inspection. I would pay a bit extra for them to be shipped in 10 tubes or similar...if that were an option! I will order in the future.
- Good service!!Fred762 on 7/24/11
Received my order of $100 face value "franklins" recently.
Good quality, clean half dollar coins, with some with "mirror surfaces" which seem to have been taken from mint sets! Great service and only one minor complaint: the bag of 200 coins was 'sealed for shipping' with wrappings of fiberglass shipping tape which was difficult to remove, making it necessary to actually cut the bag to get the coins out for inspection. Not really a serious issue, but I suspect some would prefer to have the bag to store coins later. I would order again from Provident.
- Awesomeripcord on 7/18/11
these are very nice coins, real money not like that garbage they stamp today. Example new pennies
- Worth the buyFrank on 7/9/11
Buying for the amount of silver that is in the coin is worth it. They are also very nice looking coins. Few scratches but nothing to bad. These coins are cheap for what they are selling them for.
- Everything I wantedKiloWhiskey on 6/3/11
I've order these twice now - shipments were complete and prompt. Coins were in fine to UC grades. Much lower shipping fees than some other companies. Would recommend without reservation.

- Great way to stackAW in Pennsylvania on 5/17/11
I've been purchasing these from Provident for a while now, buying the same dollar amount every few weeks. The orders have arrived without any concerns or fuss, and its easy to track the order status here on the web site. The coins are great, with the occasional well worn coin offset by some really beautiful examples. I love the Franklin half! My last order came with a brilliant uncirculated 1948P mixed in - it's such fun to be treated this way, and it's why I keep coming back to this place for my silver needs. Thanks, Provident!
- Great Company! Fast Ship! I have purchased from them again!CT on 2/11/11
I placed an order for $14 face value of US Franklin Halves and $14 of mixed silver coins. I paid via Paypal linked to my checking account. My order went in around midnight.....by 8 am I received confirmation that my order was shipped. WOW! The coins were placed in a plastic bag, taped, packed in a brown envelope, covered with shipping peanuts...in a USPS flat rate shipping box that I had to sign for when it arrived. The Franklin Halves came as pictured on the web site. The $14 face value mixed coins were all dimes.....with the dates visible. I am impressed at how quickly they delivered my order. I have since placed a larger order for $100 face value and I will continue placing future orders through this company! Thank you Provident Metals!!!! You make buying coins over the internet hassle free!

I found out about Provident on a blog I read from time to time and after looking at the website a few times, decided to give them a try for a small order of Franklin halves. Service was extremely prompt, each step of the process was confirmed in an email message, I always knew exactly what my order status was, and I was very pleased with the coins I received. The best thing I can say is that I've placed two additional orders and plan to place many, many more. You operate a terrific service, thank you.

- Features Sinnock's portrait of Franklin
In 1948, a significant change was completed in American coinage with the introduction of the Franklin Half Dollar: coins meant for circulation would from that point on depict actual Americans instead of figures from American symbolism and allegory. The artistic “golden era” of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar, Standing Liberty Quarter, and Mercury Dime had come to an end as history replaced imagery at the U.S. Mint.
Benjamin Franklin - printer, scientist, inventor, and diplomat - served as an ideal candidate for this first generation of commemorative coins, enjoying an unequaled status among his contemporaries at home and abroad.
John R. Sinnock, the Mint’s chief sculptor-engraver at the time, was chosen to design the new half dollar. The obverse, or front, of the coin is based upon an 18th century bust by sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon. It depicts Franklin in profile, facing right, with a gentle, bemused look on his face. The reverse displays a prominent Liberty Bell, based on a sketch by John Frederick Lewis, that, like Franklin, was closely tied in many American minds to the city of Philadelphia and the birth of the nation.
Despite their popularity, Franklin Half Dollars had a particularly short production run due to the decision by Congress in late 1963 to issue a new half dollar to memorialize the martyred president. They were minted in Philadelphia (no mintmark), San Francisco (“S” mintmark), and Denver (“D”), are composed of .90% silver yielding .36169 troy ounces of pure silver per coin, and measure 30.6mm in diameter.
These coins may show signs of aging and wear, though the year of minting will be decipherable.
