Obverse

John Mercanti created the design of the Statue of Liberty featured on the obverse of the American Eagle 1/10 oz Platinum Coins in this product listing. This vision of Liberty was created in 1997 by Mercanti for this series and focuses on the face of the Statue of Liberty as she gazes toward the future.

Reverse

Thomas D. Rogers created the image of an American bald eagle flying over the nation on the reverse of the American Eagle 1/10 oz Platinum Coins. This image includes the bird with its wings spread wide as it glides over the nation with the sun rising in the distant background. This design has featured on the reverse of the coins in all years, just as the obverse design has in the bullion series.

History

American Eagle Platinum bullion coins featured the three fractional-ounce coins from 1997 to 2008. The mint suspended the entire bullion range of coins in platinum in 2009 and did not restart the series until 2014. At that time, only the 1 oz coin returned. The coins were not issued in 2015 and have been issued annually again since 2016.
