Introduced in 1986, the American Eagle Silver bullion coin series features BU, Proof, and Burnished coins each year. The 2009 date is missing in the Proof and Burnished Series, with the 2010 date also missing in the Burnished Series. However, the BU American Eagle has no missing date marks as the US Mint is required to strike the coins on an annual basis to meet demand. Today, you have the chance to buy American Eagle 1 oz Silver Tubes of 20 coins online at Provident Metals.

  • Comes with random dates!
  • Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver per coin.
  • The face value of $1 (USD) backed by the United States of America.

  • Please bear in mind your tube will have Type 1 coins only and just one date mark per tube.

American Eagle Silver Coins were issued from 1986 to mid-2021 with the same designs on the obverse and reverse. Now known as the Type 1 design, these coins feature Walking Liberty on the obverse and the heraldic eagle on the reverse. While Walking Liberty remains on the coins post-2021, the heraldic eagle was retired that year.

Obverse

On the obverse of American Eagle 1 oz Silver Coins in these 20-coin tubes, you will find the iconic Walking Liberty design. This was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and was originally featured on the US half dollar through 1947. This left-profile relief shows the full-length figure of Liberty walking toward the sun on the horizon with the American flag draped around her figure as she carries the branches of oak and laurel in her left hand. The inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and a date mark.

Reverse

The reverse face of American Eagle Silver Coins features the heraldic eagle of the United States. Modernized in 1986 for this series by John Mercanti, it shows the bald eagle in front-facing relief with the US national shield on its chest. The eagle clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace in its talons. The design element includes inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER, and ONE DOLLAR.

History

In mid-2021, the US Mint retired the heraldic eagle design you will find on the reverse of the coins. The new design from Emily Damstra took over in July 2021. When the two coin designs are discussed in precious metals circles, this original design is known as the Type 1, while Ms. Damstras new image of the bald eagle is the Type 2 design.
