The success of the Australian-American joint endeavor is remembered on a series of coins from the Perth Mint. Right now, you can buy the Australian Battle of the Coral Sea 1/4 oz Gold Coin from Provident Metals.

The Battle of the Coral Sea was a tactical victory for Japan in terms of ships destroyed or lost to damage, but the Australian-American offensive was a strategic victory for the Allies in that it marked the first time a Japanese offensive was checked. The Japanese were unable to use major fleet carriers from this battle two months later at the Battle of Midway, a major American victory that turned the tide of the war.
