History of 80% Silver Canadian Half Dollars
Beginning in 1858, Canadian coins were produced across the globe in England, by the Royal Canadian Mint in London and the Heaton Mint in Birmingham. Twelve years later, the Canadian Silver Half Dollar was introduced, composed of .925 sterling silver, bearing the image of Queen Victoria of England.
Yet as the Canadian population continued to grow, so did the demand for an independent mint, and in 1901, the Royal Canadian Mint was authorized. It opened its doors in Ottawa seven years later. In 1920, the silver content of the Canadian Half Dollar was reduced to .800 — where it remained until 1968.
The Royal Canadian Mint (or the Monnaie Royale Canadienne as it is known in French) is the Crown Corporation that produces all of Canada’s circulation coins. It is the world’s only mint to issue commemorative coins in a .9999 fineness, while also striking bullion coins and bars, medallions, and even tokens.

"
O got a mixed batch in a tube... a couple were not what i would call BU but rather XF or AU. Other than that all the rest were beauties! I got a couple from '62 and '63, a few from '64 and most from '65... I was fortunate and got three from '67 (one was the XF rather than BU) and was glad to get them!
I like not knowing what I might find when I open them up and REALLY like PPM mixing up the dates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Buying rounds or even ASE/Maples etc. one already knows what they are all going to get before they arrive... When dates are mixed like this it makes it a wee bit more like Christmas and adds to the fun! THANKS PPM and keep mixing things up!" |

"
After receiving these I immediately ordered some of the Canadian quarters also. I'm very happy with both orders and will be buying more. Both the halves and the quarters had a little toning around the edges but appeared otherwise excellent and untouched. These halves are slightly more silver per dollar, but the quarters are twice the coins so either one is a great deal in my opinion, and a slightly better buy than U.S. 90% coins if considering actual silver weight per dollar. Buy some, if not for anything else, the free shipping (while it lasts)."
