The design of the Buffalo Nickel 1 oz Copper Round is based on James Earle Fraser’s design for the iconic Buffalo Nickel, which was issued in 1913. Each of these copper rounds contains one avoirdupois ounce of .999 fine copper. Rounds are easily stacked and stored, making this a smart addition to your precious metal bullion portfolio.
The round’s obverse features the face of a Native American. Fraser claims this design was the result of three different Indian chiefs–Iron Tail, Two Moons, and Big Tree–modeling for him. The word “LIBERTY” is inscribed above the Native American’s forehead.
On the reverse, you will see an American bison standing on a small mound. Bison were one of the main food sources of Native American tribes. The design was modeled after a buffalo named Black Diamond in the New York Central Park Zoo. This side is also inscribed with the round’s weight and purity.
Each Copper Buffalo Round ships in brilliant uncirculated condition. Quantities of 20 come in a medallion tube. Quantities of 500 come in a strapped Provident monster box.
