Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins were introduced by the United States Mint in 2006. The coins were initially available in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. These weights were available from the mint from 2006 to 2008. Following a two-year hiatus in 2009 and 2010, the US Mint resumed coining the Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins in 2011 with only 1 oz gold coins available.

Obverse

On the obverse side of Burnished American Eagle Gold Coins is an effigy of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this visual features Libertys full-length figure in front-facing relief as she walks toward the sun on the horizon. She holds up a torch in her right hand as an olive branch is held in her left. The inscriptions on this side include LIBERTY and the date mark of the coins.

Reverse

The reverse field of Burnished American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins comes with a depiction of a family of American bald eagles. The depiction of the bald eagles shown here comes with a male eagle soaring over the nest as a female eagle guards hatchlings in the nest. Inscriptions on this side of the coin read UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, IN GOD WE TRUST, E PLURIBUS UNUM, 1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD, and 10 DOLLARS.

History

With only three date marks available for the Burnished American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coin, the availability of these coins is extremely limited. The 2006 coin had the highest mintage, while the 2008 had the lowest mintage.

Ordering

Burnished American Eagle 1/4 oz Gold Coins listed here are in near-perfect condition. SP69 coins have full, original mint luster with no more than two minor detractions. Examples of these flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines located outside the primary focal points. Please note that these coins come with the potential for varied dates and labels. We cannot guarantee a particular date or label. If you buy more than one, the coin dates and labels may vary.
