Reverse

A unique design inspired by a different American national site is featured on each coin’s reverse field, which also carries the state and year of issue and the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”

History

The genesis of the U.S. Mint’s America the Beautiful series was the runaway popularity of the 50 State Quarters Program, a decade-long initiative that honored each of the states in the form of a 90% silver coin. This program proved to be enough of a hit that it was decided to follow it up with a silver bullion range that specifically celebrated parks and historic sites in every state, territory, and federal district. America’s Beautiful National Parks Quarter Dollar Coin Act set this program in motion in 2008, and it struck five coins every year between 2010 and 2021 in releases that were hotly anticipated in numismatics.
