History

America the Beautiful Burnished 5 oz Silver Coins are polished in a burnishing medium before striking. The blanks are removed by gloved hands and placed in the coining machine. Once the designs are struck, the coin is then removed by gloved hands and immediately packaged by the US Mint. The program launched in 2010 and is scheduled to end in 2021.
