Prior to 1920, Canadian coins contained 92.5% silver and were manufactured by the Royal Mint in England. The coins were then sent overseas and distributed to the Canadian provinces.
In 1908, The Royal Canadian Mint was founded in Ottawa and began producing the nation’s own currency.
After 1920, the percentage of silver in Canadian coins decreased to 80% and continued decreasing throughout the century.
Provident Metals offers a variety of historical coins from throughout the years, celebrating the great nation of Canada. Pick up your vintage silver, today.
