The Chinese Panda Gold Coin may not have been the first gold bullion coin to hit the market, but it was the first to start a trend that many other bullion series have followed. From its 1982 introduction to the present day, Chinese Panda coins have featured new designs of the Giant Panda species each year. Right now, you can purchase the Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coin online from Provident Metals with PCGS or NGC certification.

Highlights:

  • Arrives in a protective plastic slab from the PCGS or NGC!
  • Issued in 1/4 oz gold from 1982 to 2015!
  • Contains 1/4 Troy oz of .999 pure gold.
  • Bears a face value of 25 or 100 Yuan backed by the Chinese government.
  • Issued a Grade of Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service or Numismatic Guaranty Corporation.
  • Obverse includes an image of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests.
  • Reverse features varying images of the Giant Panda species.
  • Random year listings have the potential for shipping several coins with the same date mark and design if you purchase multiples.

Your purchase of Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins in this listing entitles you to a near-perfect Gold Panda coin. A Mint State 69 certification from PCGS or NGC indicates a coin with full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin design field.

Obverse

The obverse side of Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins includes a depiction of the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. This building is the primary structure in the Temple of Heaven complex. The Temple of Heaven is one of four major Taoist religious sites in Beijing.

Reverse

On the reverse of Chinese Panda Gold Coins is a depiction of the Giant Panda species. These lovable bears inhabit the mountainous regions of central China and are easily identifiable for their black-and-white fur patches. The Giant Panda design is changed on the reverse every year, with only the 2001 and 2002 coins sharing the same design.

History

Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins were released when the series debuted in 1982. The coin remained available in this weight until 2015 when the Chinese Mint shifted to Grams. The coin that replaced the 1/4 oz weight is the 8 Gram option.

Ordering

This is a random-year listing. Your coin will be chosen once your payment has been processed. We cannot guarantee the date mark and design you receive. If you buy more than one coin, you may receive several with matching dates and designs. Please note, Chinese Panda 1/4 oz Gold Coins had a face value of 25 Yuan from 1982 to 2000, and a face value adjusted to 100 Yuan from 2001 to 2015. It is also worth noting that the grading house label of PCGS or NGC can vary, or could feature on both coins if you buy multiples. There is also a chance your coins will come with additional labels such as First Strike and Early Release.
