The Chinese Panda bullion program from the Chinese Mint includes five weights in gold and one weight in the silver. Now known as the Chinese Panda 30 Gram Silver Coin, the silver bullion option was originally the Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coin from 1989 to 2015. Right now, you can get a perfect condition Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coin online at Provident Metals.

With your purchase of the Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coin in this product listing comes a protective plastic slab from either the PCGS or the NGC. Each one of the coins has a Mint State 69 certification from one of the two grading houses. Coins in this condition exhibit full, original mint luster and have a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Acceptable flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin.

Obverse

Giant Pandas are always featured on the obverse side of Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver coins from the mint. The design on this side of the coin is changed each year. There is only one exception to this rule. The Chinese Mint abandoned the move briefly and repeated the 2001 design on the 2002 coin. After backlash from numismatists, the series returned to the use of fresh obverse designs in 2003.

Reverse

The same design has featured on the reverse of Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coins since the programs inception. Here, the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests is shown from the exterior. This building was built in the Temple of Heaven Complex in Beijing between 1406 and 1420.

History

Chinese Panda Silver Coins debuted in 1983, but were originally available only as proof specimens through 1988. It was in 1989 that the series offered its first Brilliant Uncirculated option. In 2016, the Chinese Mint abandoned the use of Troy oz for its coins and switched to Grams, ending the Chinese Panda 1 oz Silver Coin production run.
