About the Liberty Nickel
The Liberty Nickel — often referred to as the ‘V’ Nickel — was produced by the United States Mint from 1883 until 1912. Both obverse and reverse designs were created by Mint Chief Engraver, Charles Barber. In 1913, production of the coin ceased, and was replaced by the Buffalo Nickel.
