Christian IX, Frederick VIII and Christian X ruled the Kingdom of Denmark for a combined 84 years. To honor the kings, each were featured on the Danish 20 Kroners gold coins minted between 1873-1931. These rare Danish 20 Kroners are available at Provident Metals and are of our choice.
The obverse of each gold bullion coin depicts each ruler’s portrait and name, along with the country’s name, which is either “KONGE AF DANMARK” or “DANMARKS KONGE.” The dates are also included on the Christian IX and X coins.
While the Frederick VIII and Christian X reverses are almost identical, the Christian IX reverse displays Liberty seated on heap of wheat while grasping a shield and a staff. A herring swims near her feet, which can give the illusion of a mermaid, which is why the reverse is often referred to as the mermaid. It is inscribed with “20 Kroner.” The Frederick VIII and Christian X reverses show the Kingdom’s Coat of Arms with the date, mint marks and denomination below the illustration.
Christian IX ruled from 1863-1906, which covers 43 years and is the most of the three kings in this set. Frederick VIII was king for six years from 1906-1912 and was followed by Christian X, who ruled for 35 years from 1912-1947.
Each Danish 20 Kroner was minted at the Copenhagen Mint and contains .2592 ounces, or more than one-fourth ounce. These coins are great for collecting and investing, but act quick before supplies run out. Order through Provident Metals’ online purchasing system to secure yours today!

I received an 1876 just like the other reviewer. It had a small amount of wear, but the luster on the obverse was stunning. The back of this coin also has a terrific design. I was thrilled when I saw that i got one of the older dates and it's in such nice condition! This coin is also one of the bigger fractional ~1/4 ozt European gold coins. One last pro for this gold coin is its 90% gold; this fineness adds some durability over the 22k European gold coins. These Danish 20 Kroners are also less available than the other gold coins like the Sovereign for example. The price listed by provident is excellent, making it a solid value. I am also happy they accept personal checks; well done provident. I just ordered another and got something off the free shipping list (used that last time too)! I hope I land in the 1800's again :)"

I received a nice 1876 Christian IX 20 Kroner, and it's hard to beat this combination of comparative rarity (much less common than Sovs, Roosters, Swiss 20 Franc, etc.) and low premiums. Very happy with the coin and the usual great service from Provident."
