Originally issued to celebrate the Olympic Games in Munich, the Germany 10 Mark Silver Coin was released in subsequent years to commemorate important dates in German history. With dates ranging from 1972 to 1997, each coin has a diameter of 33mm with a weight of 15g and purity of 62.5%.

The reverse design will vary, depending on the year of mintage.

The obverse features the heraldic German eagle with its wings outstretched, BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND (meaning Federal Republic of Germany) and the face value.
